  2. The two most common crystal structure are: BCC and FCC

  4. As the metal cools these crystals are confined by adjacent  developing crystals, forming grains
  5. The lineup intersection between grains it is called grain boundary
  6. Because the grains form independently their crystals structures developed tilted in various directions
  7. All atoms in these crystalline structures are held in place by electromagnetic attraction to neighboring atoms, if a force or a load is applied to a metal these electromagnetic bond stretch  allowing the atoms to move slightly
  8. When the load is removed the bonds pull the atoms back in their position
  9. If the applied force exceeds the metal yield strength, those electromagnetic bond will break, causing permanent stretching or deformation
